The reason interior paint is often more expensive than exterior paint isn't necessarily because it's easier or harder to apply, but rather due to the complexity of the areas being painted and the time and care dedicated to them. Interior painting typically involves more intricate details, such as cutting in around trim, dealing with various surfaces like walls, ceilings, and sometimes even intricate architectural features.

Additionally, interior painting often requires more preparation work, such as patching holes, sanding surfaces, and covering furniture and floors to protect them from paint splatter.

All these factors contribute to the higher cost of interior paint compared to exterior paint, where surfaces are generally larger and less detailed, and preparation may be less extensive. For example, in the images below, we see various types of complexities.

In most cases, the reasons for a price difference are different, unless a house is nearly identical in care and structure, then the prices are very similar.

However, let's take a brief look at a small example of the situation.

Irremovable objects on walls:

Sometimes, not always, there are objects on the walls that we cannot move to paint. These objects may include but are not limited to pictures or objects that are attached to the walls. This takes more time for our painters to complete the job, making it more expensive as a result.

Absolute care of the floors inside the house:

Another thing to consider is the immense care that each of our painters must contribute to the floors, both where they walk and where they pass the brush and roller.

This not only affects the speed at which painting is done but also, in some cases, prevents the use of the paint sprayer for a more professional and faster finish. This further delays the work as they are forced to work with the roller throughout the job.

Furniture and all objects inside the home:

To conclude, and at the risk of sounding repetitive, I must emphasize a separate point:

in some places, the paint sprayer cannot be used. This is because most of the houses we paint are inhabited, and therefore people have all their belongings inside, ranging from furniture to kitchen items. This makes it impossible for us to use the paint sprayer. Consequently, we paint solely with a roller, which makes the process slower.

It's not that we can't use the sprayer at all; if we decide to use it, it takes a lot of time to prepare the area, covering every nook, lamp, light switch, etc. This, in one way or another, further slows down the work. In comparison, painting the exterior of the same house doesn't always face these challenges, but more often than not, it does.
